About Us

Our History

Beulah Free Will Baptist Church was founded in 1964, in Beulah, Florida, by Brother R. H. Reddick. Although his position was originally recognized as only temporary, Brother Reddick was voted as the Church’s first pastor, and served as pastor until July 4, 1965, at which time Brother Lindbergh Bass assumed the pastorate position.

The Church later purchased four acres of property just up the road from its original building in February, 1967, for construction of a new church building. Construction began on December 27, 1967, and the first services were held in the new building on September 1, 1968. Significant growth was experienced during the next couple of years necessitating construction of a new 40’ x 40’ sanctuary which began on September 23, 1970. This building currently serves as our Sunday School building/fellowship hall.

July, 1972, marked the beginning of a new building fund for our present sanctuary, for which planning began in 1973. Construction of the present sanctuary began in November, 1974, and the first services were held on June 15, 1975. A dedication service for the new sanctuary was held on June 29, 1975, with eleven baptisms and "dinner on the grounds."

The Lord continued to bless our Church, and in 1977, a new wing to the Sunday School building was constructed. Installation of a new church steeple and large cross over the front doors of the sanctuary occurred in 1979. Another building fund began in 1980, for purposes of enlarging our educational department. The new addition included a pastor’s office, secretary’s office, and two additional Sunday School rooms.

In 1982, the Church purchased a second church bus. On Homecoming Day, 1982, three were saved, six were baptized, and two rededicated their lives to God. Three families joined the Church during this year. During the period from 1983 to 1989, there were 115 new members.

In 1990, the Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of Brother Bass’ leadership. Brother Bass was presented with a plaque and gift from the Church, and a fellowship dinner was held following the church services.

Construction of a new parking lot began in early 1992. Also during this year, on July 4th, Brother and Sister Bass retired following 27 years of faithful service. A fish fry (Brother Bass’ favorite meal) was held in their honor.

During the interim period between Brother Bass’ retirement, and the calling of Brother Len Scott and his family to our church in November, 1993, we were blessed to have several men from Pensacola Christian College to fill the pulpit. We were especially honored and blessed to have Dr. Mike Bere serve as interim pastor during this time. The Church was also deeply saddened during this year at the passing of Sister Bass who went home to be with the Lord.

The parking lot was completed and paid for in full, in 1993, because of God's faithfullness. A fund was also established for a new fellowship hall which was completed, with all bills paid in full, on October 8, 1997, again thanks to God and His grace. Brother Scott resigned from the Church in November, 1997, and is now serving the Lord in Clarksville, Tennessee.

During the interim period before the Church called it's current Pastor, Brother David Baker, we were truly blessed with wonderful services by Brother Bill Nadolny. Also, we have been blessed to have other Christian men who were willing to fill the pulpit during this interim period.

In December of 1998, the Church called Brother David Baker to be their Pastor. He and his family moved to Beulah in January of 1999 from Waltonville, Illinois. Brother David and Sister Wendy have three children: Andrew, Peyton and Alexander.

The Church called Brother Gene Wooton to join the Church Staff in January of 2001 as Youth Minister. Brother Gene, and his wife, Sister Angela, moved to Beulah in May of 2001. They are an exciting young couple who have a great desire to see the young people of the Church grow in their relationship with the Lord Jesus.

As a Church Family, we look forward to the future with great anticipation of God doing great and mighty things through this Church.
